Chapter Nine
She groaned when he touched her.
Mitch drank in that hungry, womanly sound. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to him. Hard. Sheâd been driving him nuts, making him crazy. For over a week now.
Living in her house and keeping his hands off herâ¦talk about impossible.
Heâd told himself to get the hell over it. That he wouldnât have her, that she wouldnât have him. That it was for the best, anyway. The situation was tough enough, an affair with her would only make it more so.
So much for getting over it.
He bent his head and took her mouth, drinking in her sigh of surrender as he licked the maddening cupid-bow shape of those amazing lips of hers.
âOh,â she said. âOh, Mitch. Yesâ¦â
He caught her upper lip, sucked it gently, then speared his tongue inside. She moaned some more and pressed that pretty, soft body against him, so tight. So good.
She wasâ¦a dream, lost. A dream surrendered, one heâd never again hoped to find. He couldnât love her. Not anymore.
But he couldnât get her off his mind, either.
She got to him.
She turned him inside out in ways no other woman had come close to doing. Heâd been aroused since they started talking about their first time, in the backseat, after the prom. Hard and getting harder as each second ticked by.
He cupped her bottom and pressed that hardness into her lower belly, closing his eyes, a deep groan escaping him.
This was really happening. Him and Kelly. After way too many long, lonely years.
She let him have her tongue to suck. He did, rhythmically, in long, hard draws, swirling his own tongue around it. All the while, he was breathing in through his nose, filling himself with the scent of her, a scent long-remembered, though heâd tried to forget it: sweet. Womanly. Slightly musky with desire.
Perfect for him.
But then she pulled away.
He tried to recapture the kiss, to claim those tempting lips again, to have her body pressed tight to his once more.
But she was pushing at his shoulders, saying his name. âMitchâ¦â
He swore. âWhat?â
âI donât have anythingâ¦for contraception.â
âNo problem. I do.â He reclaimed that soft mouth of hers, at the same time as he hitched her body up good and close. The feel of her round bottom in his handsâ¦was there anything to match that?
Well, maybe the taste of her. That was right up there, another peak life experience, best of the best.
He speared his tongue in, tasting her fully.
Kissing Kelly again.
At last.
Heâd actually believed that it wasnât going to happen.
Who had he thought he was kidding? There was no denying this.
And she had too many clothes on. He caught her by the waist and put her away from him.
She looked up at him, head lolling back on the stem of her neck. âWhat? Mitchâ¦pleaseâ¦â She clutched his shoulders, tried to pull him close again.
âOh, yeah,â he whispered. âYou knew it would happen. You knew it had to happenâ¦.â
âYes. I knew. I did.â
âFrom the moment I saw you again, standing there on that stage.
